I get a lot of emails from people who want to get into importing but don’t quite know what they want. The top question is “What should I import from China”. I can’t reply to everyone who asks me this as I’m just too busy but this list of “Hot Picks” should help you out.
Its updated regularly, all items sell consistently and I have included an eBay example of each. If you see anything you like and have a minimum of $5000 usd to invest then please email Daniel@youngmoneychina.com and I will be happy to supply the products and guide you through the general process of importing.

Is this list the ultimate list of the best items to buy from China? Well no, I’m pretty sure no such list exists, but right now these are clearly all great selling items that can be bought form China and sold on at a profit. It is aimed at those who are new to importing. If anything it gives people a good idea of what to import from China to make a profit and points out some nice niche market products.
Look at each eBay link, see what else the seller is selling within the same product area, look on eBay and amazon at other products within this niche and find something that jumps out at you. There will be one thing there that you will like the numbers on, find it.
The Items detailed above are intended to give you an idea of what I can help you import, get your brain thinking and hopefully lead to us doing some business. There is no smoke and mirrors, you can research for yourself how well these items sell for.
I am also not saying you have to import these thing from me, have a look around, there will be some other lunatic online that will offer you these things for half the price I can, I am sure of that. Just don’t be surprised if you don’t receive what you paid for.
I moved here because I am responsible for around 2 million gbp of exports each year and I would not trust that in someone else’s hands. While I’m here I’m happy to alleviate that worry for some of you too.
Sound interesting? email me on daniel@youngmoneychina.com
Why do i request a minimum of a 5000 usd investment? I make around 6% when sourcing and trading, it has to be worth my time as well as yours. If you want to import a handful of goods from China then I’m sorry but I’m not the guy for you but i hope you find some useful resources on my blog to help you get going.
well wooow what an excellent blog for a newbie like me looking to get started importing. So helpful thankyou
Thanks for saying so Bill. Enjoy the read
Hi Daniel,
A truly unique and valuable blog because of its genuineness, but also for the light it sheds on how business trust is related to cultural style, ethnicity etc. For example, how unlikely would it would be for a Chinese blogger to succeed in marketing your kind of service to the West!
Could I ask about Guanzi (?), or the subtleties of “trust building protocol” that one hears about being very important in Chinese business? For example, in the case I gave above where a Chinese blogger/agent offers the same service to a local Chinese market (or say, the same as you: a Western based Chinese agent acting for a mainland China market), how is the necessary trust built, and is there a lot of ripoffs? A lot of business seems to be getting done in China!
Is Guanzi important among young Chinese still? I have a Chinese (less than a friend but more than an acquaintance – a former student of mine) who has an interesting bit of software providing access to Chinese social media which needs a western representative.
How hard do you think I should negotiate on terms and details? The product of course is all in Chinese.
Thanks for your very educational blog.
Lawrence
Hi Lawrence,
Thanks for the comment and i really appreciate the feedback on my blog.
You are correct in thinking that relationships are very important here. A lot of Chinese that i meet have amassed fortunes and great businesses based purely on a close relation with a relative or friend. I have done business in many countries and have seen nothing quite like it is in China. It is very much like a more extreme version of our western phrase “its not what you know its who you know” which I’m sure a lot of other readers here can relate to.
With regards to your business question its hard to give accurate advice without knowing the product but i will say this. Its not uncommon for your partner here to focus more now ay to make money out of you than ways to make money with you, if that makes sense.
Thanks
How do I find out about importing childrens clothes
If you have an order you are looking to place i can perhaps supply you if it meets our factories MOQ.
Thanks
Hi Daniel, I had a few questions.
1. How much does shipping usually cost? Do you have a scale or a chart of some sort I could see?
2. Should we start selling stuff like these online or offline?
3. How much money does this usually bring in?
Hi Roddey,
Your questions depend a lot on the product as the answers will all depend on what the item is.
Shipping is usually done by sea for bulkier items which for a 40ft container can typically cost from 1900 – 2600 usd depending on your location.
All of these products are suitable for selling online, you could of course open a standalone store i you grew the business enough to add another income stream.
How much money you make will depend on how much you sell, it would not be “difficult” to get into a position where you were making 5-10,000 usd a month from a few items like this.
Thanks
Hi Daniel,
Does the $5000 investment have to be spent on the same product or can you do a mix of products. Also what is the cost on top of your prices to import the goods. And is it door to door.
Regards,
Phil
Hi Phil,
This will depend on the product, these prices are based on meeting order requirements from factories so on some items you will need to spend more than 5000 usd for instance.
There will be shipping costs to get the item to your door along with local taxes and duties. I will arrange the shipping etc for you and help with the paperwork for clearing customs and getting the products safely to you.
Thanks
